A suspect who stole the telegraph system from the office of a Washington city councilman has been charged with murder in connection with the death of the driver.
According to an arrest warrant filed Monday in U.S. District Court in the District, James Anthony Thomas, 59, was arrested on Monday after a two-day manhunt, which ended when authorities tracked him down at his residence in the area of 15th Street and Georgia Avenue NW.
Thomas told authorities he killed the 62-year-old driver of a cab cab to make more money.
Thomas was taken into custody on Monday and was released Tuesday morning.
He has been remanded to Washington County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
