Colts receiver/running back Justin Hunter was not injured during Sunday’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions but the Colts placed him on injured reserve with a knee injury, coach Chuck Pagano announced Monday.
Hunter did not return for the game, which Indianapolis won 26-14.
The Colts had originally scheduled Hunter to play in the first two preseason games, which was to take place Aug. 15 in New Orleans and Sept. 4 in Tampa.
The Colts have now scheduled Hunter’s first preseason game at Cleveland on Sept. 9 against the Texans.
Hunter, who missed last season with a right knee injury and has not practiced with the Colts since, did not practice Monday.
The team had not announced the severity of the injury, which Pagano said did not require surgery.
Hunter is entering his third NFL season and has made six Pro Bowls.
The 6-foot-4, 217-pound Hunter has caught 76 passes for 1,095 yards and 10 touchdowns.
He has also made eight All-Pro teams and earned two first-team All-Decade honors.
Hunter has played in seven games for the Colts in 2017.
He caught two passes for 23 yards and a touchdown in their season opener.
