A Republican Senate hopeful in New Hampshire has died after being involved in a car accident, officials said Sunday.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee said in a statement that Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, was pronounced dead at a hospital after being hospitalized on Sunday afternoon.
Graham had been a campaign surrogate for Republican Senate nominee Matt Bevin.
The Associated Press and other media reported that Graham’s death was the result of a collision with a vehicle.
He was 48.
Graham has said he will run in next year’s general election.
