Posted November 09, 2018 09:24:17 A woman in her late 30s and former co-worker is fighting for a divorce in a Massachusetts court after she was denied a child custody order.
The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court has ruled that Jane Doe had been denied a divorce after she claimed that her ex, Daniel Daugherty, was a primary provider of the children, according to a report in The Boston Globe.
Doe had filed for divorce in September 2015 after he was fired from his job as a security guard.
A lawyer for Doe’s husband, Daniel, filed a petition with the Massachusetts Supreme Court on Monday seeking a divorce and to prevent Doe from filing for divorce.
Daughers lawyer, Robert K. Stiles, said Doe was a victim of her ex-husband’s abuse.
The Globe reported that Doe was one of three women who filed a lawsuit against Daughey in the Massachusetts court in 2016.
Stile said he believes the case could be resolved through mediation, though the case is still being considered.
“I think it’s very important that there be an opportunity to get through this,” Stiles told the Globe.
“But the only way it will happen is if she comes back to this courtroom and makes the decision that is right for her.”
