I’ve been watching the @bns_tevernews feed of @SpeakerRyan for the last several hours and I’ve watched him spew some of the most ignorant, mean-spirited, racist, sexist, hateful, and disgusting tweets I’ve ever seen.
He’s a congressman, not a celebrity, and his entire career and brand is built around the idea that he is an imbecile.
He is an embarrassment to American democracy.
He should pay for his behavior with his career, his career and his reputation.
And if you think he’s just a comedian, think again.
Ryan’s tweets are more than just funny.
They’re the product of a broken system that relies on political elites to deliver on their promises and promote their brands.
I don’t care what your politics are or how you feel about the economy, if you don’t like the results you are getting from the government, you can vote with your feet, as Ryan has been doing for the past several weeks, and not just with his own followers.
This is not a joke.
He will be replaced by someone who will be even more reckless and hateful.
You will never see the same amount of vitriol directed towards him.
You’ll see more people complaining about the government than about Ryan, and you’ll see a far bigger number of tweets about him than the tweets about the other politicians.
You’re not going to get the same level of hate, and Ryan will be able to ignore it and continue with his agenda.
The problem is that the @Speakership is the most important job in the United States.
The President has a mandate to get things done and he does so by appointing his Cabinet members, but that doesn’t mean the President has the authority to fire the Cabinet.
The House is the final step in a President’s job of governance and Ryan has the power to stop the President from doing what he wants to do, but he can’t do it until the President is fired.
Ryan is no longer a politician, he’s a demagogue who can’t be stopped.
He doesn’t have the authority.
And as long as he remains a politician with a platform, he’ll continue to use that platform to promote himself and promote his agenda, which means his tweets will continue to be a constant reminder of what a mess he’s made and how many people he has hurt.
